80 questions around the world
23.10.2002 at 15:43:20

In 80 questions around the world

Following the trail of Jules Verne, Michael Palin and other explorers, we will travel around the world to discover more new insights in our world. Our world, planet Earth, that is still endlessly beautiful, but also has its limits. We will look for ultimate similar thoughts and emotions. We will look for music, for stories and for points of contact between our home and this world.

We will travel by truck and the journey will take approximately 3 years. We expect to start traveling in the summer of 2003.
Besides a coordinator the team consists of 7 drivers and 4 volunteers who will back up this project on organizational level and who will transform all the information into a web magazine. In every country we will travel with local guides and translators.
You can follow this journey through internet and we will report about the journey though music programs on local and national radio.

In the beginning of this new millennium, and in the beginning of this digital era, we would like to contribute relevant and useful information. The subject of global consciousness is very popular at this very moment. We think that the discussion about
this subject is not yet finished. We think we are just at the start of this discussion and we think this discussion will lead us to new research and therefor to new insights.

Our goal is to feed this discussion with insights, facts, opinions and suggestions from all over the world, so our wisdom will be wider and not become too opinionated. Our team will not travel alone because we will travel with our audience. The journey
will be published live on the internet and the audience can point us to particular places or activities. Also the audience can add questions or react to questions and answers on the virtual bulletin board. The audience are friends and acquaintances,
artists and musicians and their audience, volunteers of Dutch city connection foundations and cooperators of these activities in the sister towns around the world, cooperators of humanitarian aid organizations, companies, students and of course also people we will meet on the road.
We have a huge network of artists at our disposal, many of which like to support this project, but also we have many contacts at universities, NGO’s, travelers, radio
stations and  so on.

In this way we will create a contemporary view on how much global consciousness has developed. And we will also see the relation between our home and this world.
During this journey, this document will evolve and it will serve as a temporary network for the exchange of thoughts and experiences with other people in the world.

At the end of this journey we will hand over a copy of this document, including recommendations in printed version to representatives of the City council of Eindhoven, the district council of the province North Brabant, the Dutch government, the European Union and the United Nations.

Of course changes in this schedule can occur.

There are six points of focus in every country we will visit: Internet publication about these countries, recording of folk music from these countries, recipes from these countries including pictures and stories, painters in these countries (with a little time left), these countries in relation with our hometown Eindhoven and Dutch activities in these countries (business, sports, humanitarian, governmental and so on)
This journey is a long term project and we can use your help. There are also things we can offer. On our website you’ll find more information. In case you have particular questions considering this project, please feel free to contact us. Our agenda is still half empty and we love to see an unexpected proposal becoming possible.

Thank you for your attention and see you around.
