V sredo, 8. decembra, bo obletnica umora velike glasbenika in borca za mir, člana legendarne skupine The Beatles, Johna Lennona. V New Yorku leta 1980 ga je na ta dan ubil neki krščanski fundamentalistični obsedenec, ki mu ni mogel odpustiti, da je nekoč izjavil, da so Beatli popularnejši od Jezusa (čeprav je bilo to mogoče celo res). Na ta umor se je pripravljal več let in ga žal uspel tudi izvesti.

John Lennon je bil poleg tega, da je bil velik glasbenik in pesnik, tudi velik borec za mir. Čeprav si je s svojim delovanjem nabral velikansko bogastvo, je sanjal o svetu brez lastnine. Zaradi tega in njegovih drugih levičarskih stališč ter ateizma so ga mnogi konservativci imeli za nevarnega revolucionarja in komunista, kar je po svoje tudi bil.

Mnoge njegove pesmi so postale legendarne, med njimi dve mirovni himni "Imagine" in "Give Peace a Chance", ki so jo študentje ameriških univerz prepevali na mirovnih demonstracijah, medtem ko so jih policaji demokracije neusmiljeno pretepali z gumijevkami.

Po 11.09.2001 so bile na mnogih ameriških radijskih postajah njegove pesmi prepovedane, predvsem obe omenjeni mirovni himni.

Bil je človek, ki mu je sta mu svoboda vseh ljudi in mir na svetu pomenila vse. Zato ga je ubil nek patološki krščanski fanatik, simbol družbe, ki se je v zadnjih letih predvsem v ZDA institucionalizirala, žal pa ima tudi pri nas veliko privržencev.

Saj je bil dober, samo škoda, ker se je preveč pustil voditi tisti zmešani Yoko Ono, ki je iz njega naredila pokornega sužnja.

Utopija je družbeno stanje, katerega mogoče nikoli ne bo.

Toda vseeno se je za nekaj potrbno boriti?

Mir in utopija nista eno in isto: svet brez lastnine je najbrž res utopija, medtem ko je mir stanje brez vojne.

Huh, prvič sem v bistvu brala tole od Lennona.
Poznam pa predelavo od U2 (God part II; plata Rattle & Hum). Bonotovo besedilo mi je bližje. Mal nadgradnje, mal ironije pa to.
