A Year Of Change

I strongly feel that 2003 will be a year of change in many people's lives. Some will have their slates wiped clean and be given the opportunity to start anew.

The most important shift in the skies is Uranus moving into Pisces which commences on 12 March 2003. This can represent a speeding up or acceleration of our spiritual progress or development for those of us who seek to understand our place in the scheme of things. As Uranus dips its toes into the deep Piscean ocean waters, the mystical energies of this sign will be aroused in new and explorative ways. The insightful and inventive Uranian energies will delve into the mysterious and hidden aspects of the Universe and present us with opportunities to see far beyond our normal senses. This is the time when we can open our eyes and our minds to new ways of looking at our selves, our choices, and go further along the path of understanding the meaning of life, its true purpose and why we are here.

Most of us acknowledge that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Yet in our hurry to get to where we are going, we forget that each and every moment in the present is all we really have and that we can be snuffed out in a flash, while we are blinking in the midst of the modern and overly fast pace of our everyday lives. The challenge for us as humans is to expand our conscious understanding and invite into our lives the true essence of our purpose and share this universal wisdom with those around us. The great Universal mind will be open to reception. We can either tune in or tune out, that is our choice. Those who wish to tap into this Universal data base of knowledge and understanding can do so, with ease and clarity of perception. The more compassionate we can become, the sooner we will have a safer world to live in.

The Dalai Lama is one person who has already crossed over and travelled way past some of these inherent human stumbling blocks, to a place in his mind that accepts life and looks to the future with compassion. If each of us could have but a minute share of his understanding we would be well on our way to a world without war, without hate, without walls in our way.

Over the past few days I spent some time perusing the current year ephemeris, and could not help but notice that there is not one day in the whole year where there are no planets in retrograde motion. This gives me that impression that throughout the whole year, we will constantly be going over and over things, decisions and efforts and keep re-evaluating them and wondering if we are on the right track. It may seem that we are constantly trying to get it right, and whether we do will be personal to each and everyone of us. We will prepare and prepare again and only those highly gifted will be one step closer to knowing how to sift the wheat from the chaff, and even then they may still ponder it once more and probably sleep on it again, just to make sure the gut feeling was right in the first place.

Of all the planets, only one, Venus, is in direct motion all year. This gives me some hope. At least, I imagine, we will know where our heart is, what we love, who we love, what we value and what brings harmony into our lives, and hopefully the understanding of how to maintain this. I suspect there will be some very important relationships formed this year and these can prove to be quite meaningful ones, as Venus occupies every sign of the zodiac, so each and every person and situation will be seen in every possible light.

Here I will list all the dates that each of the planets change direction throughout the whole year. Each month I will look at how this can manifest in our lives according to which planet is changing sign and/or direction.

01 January Mercury turns retrograde for 22 days
23 January Mercury goes direct
22 February Saturn goes direct
22 March Pluto turns retrograde for 5 months
04 April Jupiter goes direct
28 April Mercury turns retrograde for 3 weeks
16 May Neptune goes retrograde for 5 months
20 May Mercury goes direct
07 June Uranus turns retrograde for 5 months
01 August Mars turns retrograde for 8 weeks
28 August Mercury turns retrograde for 3 weeks
29 August Pluto goes direct
20 September Mercury goes direct
27 September Mars goes direct
23 October Neptune goes direct
25 October Saturn turns retrograde for nearly 5 months
08 November Uranus goes direct
17 December Mercury turns retrograde for 3 weeks

Firstly this month we see Mercury, the planet of communication turn retrograde on 1 January 2003. This apparent reverse motion in the sign of Capricorn for approximately 22 days may see negotiations between different cultures go into retreat or re-evaluated or amended. Any attempts to find resolution to serious matters, or gaining or maintaining some understanding is not likely to manifest during this time. However, it can be a time to prepare for when Mercury does move forward later in the month. International travel may experience some hiccups and disruptions. For further info please refer to my main article 'Mercury Retrograde' on my website.

Secondly, during this first week of January, Venus and Mars are currently still in the intense and powerful sign of Scorpio and moving very closely together. Those who commence new relationships in this period are likely to see their passions soar to great heights combined with an intensity of feeling that goes deep to the core of their being. This picture changes significantly with these two planets entering Sagittarius.

Thirdly we observe beautiful Venus move into philosophical Sagittarius on 8 January 2003 and this I feel will give some hope towards some peaceful negotiations between some countries, if the energies are manoeuvred and/or desired in this direction. There could be some relationships in the news and weddings occurring between people of different nationalities. I feel that some may travel long distances to be with those they love.

Fourthly, Mars quickly follows suit and enters Sagittarius on 17 January 2003 for a seven week stay. This has the potential to aggravate travel plans (especially long distance ones) and the manifestation of conflict between different cultures. Freedom of action will be a high priority for many and any restraint will meet with angst. Lawyers and the travel industry may have a busier than usual time. Someone in the horse-racing industry may also be under fire, or an accident occurs involving a horse or polo pony. (Ooops I think that last sentence just slipped out and was more psychic than anything else). Those who can harness the positive energies of this sign may see glimpses into the future of any situation and this could prove highly valuable to those who have this gift. (As an afterthought - This God of war can stir up hostilities between nations and incite violence and riots, especially when he aligns with volcanic Pluto, God of the Underworld, which will occur around 17 February 2003).

Lastly, the Sun moves into Aquarius around 20 January and this brings in an emphasis on the brotherhood of man being of importance and if we can show our altruistic side we may move forward freely and with a sense of true sharing. We can still maintain our independence and yet be part of large groups of kindred spirits and the bigger picture. We can stand out, be unique and original, yet stay in touch with the overall world collective and unify our aims and interests so that all is equal and at one with the Universe.

Overall there are six favourable planetary patterns, one that can go either way, and four unfavourable, which generally means we are more fortunate during this month to succeed at those tasks we choose.

For horary enthusiasts, Mercury will still be in Capricorn all month and therefore remaining in mutual reception with Saturn in Gemini.

VIRGO FULL MOON
March 18, 2003
2:35 a.m. PST; 5:35 EST
Sun at 27.24 Pisces; Moon at 27.24 Virgo

"... (O)n this Virgo Full Moon, take time to marry the visionary dreaminess
of Pisces with the practical, service-oriented energy of Virgo. Guided by
the archetype of Uranus in Pisces, create out-of-the-box healing
techniques, imagine eccentric ways of making peace a reality, and envision
outrageous breakthroughs in the fields of mysticism and spirituality...."

Full Moon Reflections:
Turn a Cross into a Dancing Wheel
By Pythia Peay

"The peaceful warrior learns first about himself. Before all else, self-knowledge must be found, for this brings an appreciation of sensitivity and vulnerability." The Art of Peace: Balance Over Conflict in Sun Tzu's The Art of War, adapted by Phillip Dunn

As if mirroring the tense situation on the Earth below, a grand cross hangs in the sky this Virgo Full Moon. Pluto and Saturn opposing each other form one axis of this cross, while Sun and Moon in opposition form the other arm. Pluto, about to station retrograde on March 22, is especially powerful right now. The symbol of the cross is reflected as well by the fact that we are about to pass through one of the four seasonal gateways of the year - the Spring Equinox on March 20.

The phrase "serve or suffer" is often ascribed to the Pisces/Virgo axis. This axiom offers us a key to understanding the symbolism of the cross. By channeling emotions of fear, anger, and despair into compassionate action during times of collective crisis, for instance, we avoid the crucifying paralysis that can result if we allow ourselves to remain frozen in fear. Yet another comforting symbol can be found in the nurturing, grain Goddess Ceres - She who feeds both body and soul of hungry humanity and who is often associated with the sign of Virgo. This Full Moon, the asteroid Ceres has just entered the fertile earth sign of Taurus, forming a harmonious sextile to Uranus, newly in the sign of Pisces. In addition, loving Venus and Neptune in humanitarian Aquarius are still conjoined, opposing Jupiter in Leo. Together, these alignments offer rays of hope and signal the emergence of innovative - even eccentric - new forms of peaceful service to humanity.

This was especially true on International Women's Day in Washington D.C. last Saturday when the Divine Feminine showed her true colors - and they were pink. As thousands of women from around the country descended on the capital, a sea of soft rose cast a translucent glow on a city darkened by thoughts of impending war and destruction. They encircled the White House in pink, and paraded up and down the streets singing and chanting in a spirit of warmth and merriment. On Sunday, the pagan witch Starhawk led a vibrant outdoor spiral dance - and the women in pink raised a cone of powerful Goddess energy over the monuments and memorials of official Washington. Another example of Uranus in Pisces is the forthcoming adaptation of Sun-Tzu's classic book *The Art of War* as *The Art of Peace.* (Tarcher/Putnam, May 2003).

So on this Virgo Full Moon, take time to marry the visionary dreaminess of Pisces with the practical, service-oriented energy of Virgo. Guided by the archetype of Uranus in Pisces, create out-of-the-box healing techniques, imagine eccentric ways of making peace a reality, and envision outrageous breakthroughs in the fields of mysticism and spirituality. Just like the Women in Pink, Uranus in Pisces is radical, iconoclastic, and pioneering -- but in a softer, sweeter, more joyous and feminine way. Under this influence, transformation and revolution occurs in a flowing, artistic, and poetic manner.

Like the Spring bulbs about to burst into blossoms of yellow, lilac, and blue, global signs of peace are everywhere. So take courage and let your own soul burst into color as well. For even though the world situation may seem grim, the stars hold out hope that the cross of suffering in the sky above may one day turn into a dancing wheel of light and life.

MAY 15, 2003 - FULL MOON - 25 SCORPIO
This Scorpio Full Moon total Lunar eclipse energizes the shamanic mysteries of death, regeneration and rebirth. The caterpillar dissolves or dies to its old form, regenerates, transforms and is reborn as a butterfly. Thus, this Lunar Eclipse has the ability to facilitate regeneration on a deep cellular level taking us to new edges through transformational experience. In addition to this, within the context of the Lunar Eclipse acceleration Neptune is reaching its retrograde Still Point station - [Zero Point Polarity.] The shift in direction of a planet's motion from the Earth's perspective creates a pause or Still Point that provides access to multi-dimensional realms of experience. This is especially true of those who are experiencing a Neptune transit to any natal planet between 11 and 14 degrees of fixed signs (Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio, Taurus). With both the Eclipse and Neptune station magnify this timing it is helpful to trust our intuition for guidance in navigating these unchartered waters while also consciously releasing attachments to outcome and simply finding a way to be with what is. - Celestial Timings
